One of the nice things about late winter in northern Nevada is getting in the new products for the spring. We receive new stuff almost everyday this time of year. One of the new products we got in this week is from Hog Tunes. Their new product is called the Tweeter. It fits on your fairing.
The Tweeter is designed for the H-D batwing fairing and mounts on the dash area over the speedo-tach. It is, as the name implies, a pair of one inch tweeters that deliver mid to upper range sounds. The kit is easy to mount, comes in satin black to match the stock Harley inner fairing. It is paint ready if you have a gloss black or color matched inner fairing. the wiring harness is plug and play.
Easy to install at home, the kit comes with two sets of speaker grills, and a drilling template for perfect mounting holes. The tweeter is warranted by the manufacturer for 20 years. Stop by the Reno Harley-Davidson/Buell Parts Department and have a look at the Tweeter Pod.

The Sun is Out! The Sun is Out!!
What a beautiful day! The weather forecast was so promising I unhooked the battery tender and took my scoot for the daily commute. I didn't see a whole lot of bikes out on the freeway, and I was the only bike in our parking lot. I have to admit it was a little chilly this morning. My wind deflector (Can't really call it a windshield. It would have to shield something)/ fairing doesn't offer a lot of protection. Fortunately I have a short ride. It felt pretty good to ride after a couple of weeks of caging. I could feel the knot between my shoulders start to ease. Some of that was because my scoot uses a whole lot less fuel that my truck, but mostly it is great to be back on two wheels.
Cold weather deters a lot of people. Not everyone has a "full on" touring bike with big windshield and massive fairing to ride behind. Memphis Shades is trying to reduce the number of people who need more coverage. They have a new product. You knew I had to get to the pitch sometime huh? Their new detachable fairing is shaped like the traditional H-D batwing and is available with 3 sizes of windscreens. The fairing unit is gloss black and the windscreens are a variety of tints. Easily detachable, and interchangable with Memphis Shades' windshields the fairings offer all the protection of a bat wing. You can see one set up on a Road King Custom in our new bike show room.
There are several other companies that make detachable farings for the Road King. Memphis Shades has gone a little further and offers their Batwing for FL Softails! That is the really exciting part. Now you can have the comfort of a fairing on your Fatboy, Heritage, or Deluxe when you need it, and the clean look of the stock bike when you want it. Stop by and take a look at the Road King Classic in our show room and ask one of our parts professionals how you can get the comfort and convenience of the Memphis shade detachable fairing.

Custom Coverage and You
The traffic is stacking up on 395 north as it does everyday about this time. I start thinking that lane splitting in Nevada would be a great idea. It worked so well for me in Kali. Then I remembered all the near misses I have had when I was staying in my own lane, and most of those were when I was in my truck. Now I am thinking that bikes should have their own elevated lane, or if that is too expensive maybe a rocket launcher. Just a thought.
If you had purchased a new Harley-Davidson from us in the last 60 days, and had our service department install a Genuine H-D rocket launcher, you could get that launcher covered under warranty for the remainder of your new bike warranty!! That would include the labor also. Now we are talking customer care. Now we are talking Custom Coverage Program.
Harley-Davidson does not make a rocket launcher (more the pity on occassion), but they do make hundreds of other parts and accessories that can be covered under a special warranty program known as Custom Coverage. When you buy a new bike, any qualifying parts or accessories you buy from, and have installed by the selling dealer within 60 days, can be covered for the remainder of your new bike warranty. Normal parts and accessory warranty is 90 days ( electrical parts 30 days). Under the Custom Coverage Program you can extend that coverage for up to 24 months. Stop in at the dealership and see me in the Design Center for more details.

CVOs in Stock! Come check them out!
Hello to all my fellow Road Glide fans out there. We now have an amazing silver CVO Road Glide in stock and on the floor waiting for its totally stoked new owner...Stop on by and check it out.... hurry, it wont last long!!
Spring, What!!!!?
Looking out the showroom window it does not look like another six weeks of winter. The sun is shining the roads are dry and the sky is full of those fluffy clouds that every one likes. Our showroom window does face to the east, though, and not much of our weather comes from that direction. Looking west the view is a little more wintery. Which brings me to my inspirational message.
Today is a great day to customize your bike. There is time to select, order and have custom parts installed on your Harley-Davidson. The new Parts and Accessory Catalog has hundreds of pages of accessories for your Harley-Davidson. If you are one of the unfortunates who do not yet have a new catalog, you can go to http://harley-davidson.com/ for the parts that will fit your bike. You can see what many of these parts will look like of your bike by using the customizer feature on the website. Take a few minutes to make your bike the bike you always wanted!

Come see the Darkside Luke
The catalog arrived with the new Dark Custom accessories, and two days later some of the new parts arrived. Kenny has set up a new parts display at the parts counter with a lot of the new items for you to look at, touch, and buy!!! The Tribal design parts are cool. I think they will find their way onto a lot of bikes.
Kenny also displayed some new chrome covers for FLHX mirrors. Several of you have asked me about chrome mirrors for the FLHX. We have them in stock priced at $69.95. The Chrome covers will go a long way to set off the stock inner fairing.
If you haven't been into the new store yet, put it your list of things to do. You won't believe the difference. We may not have stuffed animals or a giant ferris wheel, but we have motorcycles, parts and apparel!

Not so indtimidating the second time around
My first attempt at blogging went fairly well, so I'm, taking another shot. A couple of months ago in the Chrome Consultant Corner I talked about black being the new chrome. We just received a copy of the Winter Parts and Accessory catalog and it is full of new blacked out parts. The Dark Custom has really taken hold at H-D. I will go into more detail in a Chrome Corner, but a couple of the hot new items are black trimmed windshields, and a black Stealth Luggage rack. If you are looking for more black parts for your bike the new catalog is a must see.
At the last Garage Party, Several of you were asking about turn signal button extensions. I said I knew that they were available and would find them. I found them! If you are "thumbally challenged" Kuryakyn offers Thumbnails in black and chrome. They are available through the Reno H-D parts counter. (PN 6267 for black and 6268 for chrome)

First Time blogger
Whoa! My first entry into the blogosphere. I have to tell you, an empty text box is pretty intimidating for a guy who is a rider not a writer.
I do want to let you know about a new product we have in our service Department. We just received a locking system for Road King Classic saddlebags. This system actually locks the bag lid with a keyed internal lock. It is called the Stealth Talon Saddlebag lock System and costs $199.95.
Stop in at our new location at 2315 Market street. Visit our new showroom and have a look at this new lock system.

Dirt Track Racing Heritage Fuels Bold Performance and Striking Style for New XR1200
Inspired by the XR750, the most dominating American dirt track racing motorcycle of all-time, the Harley-Davidson XR1200 is poised and ready to boost adrenalin levels on streets, roads and highways around the world.
The XR1200 is a powerful new Harley-Davidson hot rod motorcycle that was initially launched only for European markets in April 2008. With the high degree of interest and enthusiastic reception surrounding the bike’s European release, as well as the wide demand for an aggressive and sporty American V-Twin motorcycle, Harley-Davidson is now launching the XR1200 worldwide.
Drawing significant design influences from the successful Harley-Davidson XR750 motorcycles that set new standards for dirt track racing success over the last 30 years, the XR1200 adds the latest technical innovation for potent performance with smooth handling on the street. In fact, Harley-Davidson dirt track racing legends Scott Parker and Rich King participated in the XR1200 development, along with European GP racing champion Adrien Morillas.
“The XR1200 is a motorcycle with an aggressive attitude that comes from its roots in dirt track racing,” said Bill Davidson, Harley-Davidson Vice President, Core Customer Marketing. “Winning on the track is part of Harley-Davidson heritage. The XR1200 will certainly provide the high levels of performance and distinct style demanded by uncompromising riders, so we are very fired up to make the XR1200 available to riders in North America and around the world.”
The new Harley Iron 883 is dressed for a dark ride
Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycles like the Iron 883 have stood against the grain since their introduction in 1957, when the modern rebel culture was being bred from restless veterans and hot rod pioneers. Sportster motorcycles became the starting point for many legendary choppers of the 1960s, while also getting pumped up for championship dirt racing and dare devil stunt riding in the 1970s.
The Iron 883 model continues that rebellious tradition with responsive handling, smooth clutch effort and durable carbon reinforced drive belt while pushing the styling of motorcycling minimalism to the edge. Decked in black from fender-to-fender, the new Harley-Davidson Iron 883 motorcycle brings the beat of an 883 Evolution® engine backed up by a combo of gritty, old-school garage features like front fork gaiters, drag style handlebar and side-mount license plate holder. A ticket to ride the Iron 883 starts at just $7,899 MSRP, leaving plenty of freedom for customization.
“The Iron 883 defies the plastic conventions of other motorcycles at this price,” said Mark-Hans Richer, Harley-Davidson Chief Marketing Officer. “It’s got old school style, a new school ride and gives the owner a platform for creative customization.”
The black powder-coated 883cc Evolution powertrain with black covers takes the Iron 883 deep into the heart of darkness. With Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) and performance tuning with a broad torque curve, the Iron 883 delivers plenty of power for the city scene. The pipes on the straight cut shorty dual exhaust flow the distinctive Harley-Davidson V-Twin sound.
The black chopped rear fender with its combination stop/turn/tail lights shows more of the 150 mm rear tire and black, 13-spoke cast aluminum wheel, while the front tire also rides on a black wheel. The rest of the Iron 883 gets a darker-suited presence with black front forks and fender supports, fuel tank, oil tank cover, belt guard, drag style handlebar and mid mount foot controls.
A one-piece, solo classic seat with a height of 25.3 inches fits the lone rider, while a passenger seat and a backrest in complementing black finishes can be added as accessories.
As the latest of the Harley-Davidson Dark Custom motorcycles, the Iron 883 is stripped down and ripe for custom creativity. Dark Custom motorcycle riders have the youngest average age for Harley-Davidson buyers. Soul mates of the Iron 883 include the Nightster®, Night Train®, Cross Bones®, Fat Bob® and Street Bob® motorcycles. Check out more on Dark Custom motorcycles at www.harley-davidson.com/darkcustom
